Hello and Happy Holidays!

It's that time of year again where I debate if I want to upgrade my PC or start fresh with a new rig.

Primary focus is for gaming and some video editing. I've had this rig for a few years now and have been slowly adding new components to it, but I'm looking for a face lift on my PC and wondering if I could get some opinions about where to go next.

My main goal this year is going to be consolidation and performance. Looking to change cases into one of those Mini ATX towers to save some desk space and general aesthetics. This may end up out in my living room too since my office is about to become an art studio for my lady friend so I really want something that won't be in the way. Since most of the parts in my computer are older (2-5 years) l think I'm down to two options.

Option 1 ($300- $600): Reuse as many old parts from my current rig and buy a new case, motherboard, and SDD primary drive.

Option 2 (Budget $1000~$1200) : Break the bank and start fresh all over again.

I'm leaning more towards option one since I'm a bit tight for cash at the moment and the move to the living room will be happening in January. Thank you so much for any input!

General Specs:
Case: Cooler Master Mid Tower ATX 300 series
MoBo: MSI 770-C45
Heatsink: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus
Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 965 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.4GHz
Memory: Crucial 4GB Kit (2GBx2) DDR3 1333 MT/s (PC3-10600) x 2
GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD6850 1 GB
PSU: Corsair 550w
Primary Drive: (can't remember brand) 500GB SATA 5400rpm I think.
Seconday Drive: Western Digital 1.5 TB Caviar Green SATA

Solution
Can go either way, the 965 is getting a little long in the tooth, you can reuse the Drives, PSU, heat sink, and maybe go a 4670K, Asus Z87-A or Plus, 8GB 1866 DRAM in 2x4GB, SSD, case and a better video card for less than $1,200

This is possible, Tradesman, but I was really hoping to stay under $300~600 this year. From what I've read I agree with you that's it is probably time to switch to an Intel/GTX over an AMD/ATI build, just don't know if I can afford it right now. :/

Unless I get over whelming support to stick with what I have until I can properly build a new system. I'm still leaning more towards Option 1 right now.
