Hello.
I got a new Sapphire Toxic R9 270X for Christmas today, and for some reason it will not work.
I put it in without disabling the IGP graphics, and the monitor was getting no signal from the card or the motherboard. I rebooted a few times, and changed what type of cable I was using (DVI, VGA with adapter) and it finally booted. I installed the drivers, and it asked me to reboot, which I did. When it started back up, there was no signal again.

So I took the card out, booted up with IGP graphics (worked fine), updated the BIOS to the latest version, and then went in to the BIOS and disabled IGP. I popped the card back in, and when I tried to boot up, the mobo started beeping with the "No video detected" pattern.

I am at a loss of what to do. The mobo powers up fine, but I did have some trouble getting it into the PCIe slot (the little lock wouldn't close, for example).

Any ideas?

You were connecting the monitor to the card when it is in? You connected the PCIe power from the PSU to the card as well?

Yes, when the card was in I tried both the GPU and IGP and neither worked. When I took it out, IGP worked like normal.

And yes, both 6 pin connectors are attached.

PSU big enough?
Have you checked if there is BIOS update for your motherboard? Seen it as a fix to many boards.

Yes, recommended PSU is 500W, mine is 600W. I just updated the BIOS this morning to the latest.

The problem is not that it won't boot, I see that the card gets power just fine, it just won't output a video signal and it looks like the motherboard doesn't detect it.

Which is an indication of a faulty card. To make sure the best way is to try it in another computer if possible.

What makes me think it is not a faulty card is the fact that it booted once. I can't seem to press it all the way into the PCIe slot. Would that be a problem?

That can be a problem since it needs all the contacts to be in.

Ok, I will work on trying to make it fit better, then I will get back to you.

Ok, I bent the shafts that go down below the PCIe slot (where the ports are) and it fit in much more smoothly. It booted up just fine now. Thanks for your help.
