I have recently gotten an amd fx-8350 and paired it with my msi 970a-g46 motherboard(replaced an fx-4100). I also got a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. I installed those components and when i went for a first boot, the fans started running and i heard some beeps, but nothing is showing on the monitor. PLEASE HELP!!!

I'd recommend updating your BIOS to the most recent version, probably not the solution to this problem though. It's good to do anyway.

That power supply should be sufficient, though it sounds like it could be faulty.

do i just install that onto a thumb drive and plug it into the computer and boot it? or do i need to install that onto the computer itself once it gets working?

FYI guys, that motherboard will not officially support the 83xx CPU's. I found that out when trying to upgrade from an FX-6300.

EDIT: Wait a second, it is on the supported list now. It wasn't just a few months ago though, so I would be wary.

no the motherboard is compatible with your Cpu, and support 32Go ram frequency from 800Mhz to 2133 Mhz Overclocked, after recent change of hardware like cpu, before you jump into conclusion of a faulty hardware, the most obvious cause would be a mistake made during the installation, like cpu not installed correctly, or it's cooler fan, or as i said another hardware wasn't put in place correctly like gpu or ram, so just try removing all extra hardware not needed for booting the system, then resintall the needed hardware making sure it's correctly installed.
once this step is done , then you can consider faulty hardware.
btw during the long beep, does anything display on the screen ?

Are you sure you didn;t have the g43?

Nope it was the G46, I had to amend my post though. Apparently there was a new bios released a few months back that made it compatible with the 83xx series. Anything v2.5 and up should be good to go. My bad.

So yeah, it seems as if the BIOS update would be the most likely solution. It should tell you how on the site.

Alright :)

Kind of makes me a little bummed that I sold my old mobo. I ended up going with a Z87/4770k combo, when I could have just upgraded to an 8350. I'm still very happy with the 4770 though, make no mistake.

try clearing the motherboard's cmos either through the jumper or by removing the battery for 5 minutes and putting it back but before you do this procedure make sure there is no power feeding your motherboard
