Questions regarding new mobo

Hello.

I'm currently upgrading my PC to an i7 3770k for a variety of reasons. As a result of this, I'm also going to need a new motherboard. I just have a few questions regarding the change.

1) Any recommended boards? I was looking at the GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD3H just because I've had good experiences with GIGABYTE hardware in the past. I was looking at a few ASUS boards, but most of those seemed to be paying more for the brand-name.

2) My current board is UEFI (and is set to boot into EFI sans the secure option since I'm dual-booting with Linux). My new board is also going to be UEFI. I was just wondering if the UEFI from one board would screw with the UEFI from the other. I'm more use to MBR-style installations, so this EFI stuff is all new to me. If I could, I would really like to not do a new installation.

3) Outside of drivers, is there anything in the OSs I'm going to need to do?

4) Any cheap, reliable 2 stick RAM set ups with 8+ GB memory? Not really related to my other questions, but I think my RAM I currently have is somewhat faulty, so I should probably nab some new sticks.

5) Should I go with a 4770k over a 3770k? The performance increase from the former doesn't really seem like it's that much better, but I figured I'd ask. Obviously, the previous questions would have to be answered depending.

6) What's a good place to sell some of my older parts since they still work? I live in pretty close to the middle of nowhere, so local stores aren't an option and the closest city is a four hour drive. I was considering holding onto them for spare parts, but I thought I'd ask.

Current set up:
- CPU: AMD FX-6300 (Not quite good enough for my needs, bought it because I needed the build complete and I didn't have the cash for a better CPU at the time. 8350 is pretty close to what I need, but not quite either; plus my current mobo doesn't support the 8350 so I'd need a new board for that, as well).

- MOBO: GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3

- RAM: Mushkin Blackline 996995 (2x4GB, 8GB total)

- PSU: Antec NeoEco 520 (should be enough from what I can see)

- GPU: GIGABYTE GV-R795WF3-3GD (HD7950)

New set up:

- CPU: i7 3770k (I plan on doing heavy media editing and the i7 meets other needs. I would get non-k model because I don't plan on OCing right away, but I want it as an option in the future if need be).

- MOBO: GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD3H

- RAM: Some 2x4GB.

- Everything else is the same.

Solution
1. Look at the Z77 Extreme 4 from the Rock, best Z77 out there and reasonably priced at about $125

2. Going to have to set up any new mobo you get

3. Just update the OS, of course as you mention will want to update drivers and would suggest checking for bIOS updates, most new mobos will come with the BIOS and included drivers already out of date

4. Take a look at the GSkill Snipers in 1866/9 2x4GB

5. The 4670K is about 10% faster, but the 3770K OCs better which can bring the difference down to about + 4% for the 4770K

6. Could try selling via e-bay

Figured I'd still ask about questions 1, 2, 3, and 5 since those were my biggest concerns and what I was worried the most about (mostly looking for a bit longer explanation)

Merry Xmas to you, too, though. :D

Aside from the initial set up, though (i.e. making sure timings are correct, temps, it posts, etc), is there anything special I will have to do with EFI to make it pick up my Windows/Linux partitions? Every other mobo I've replaced in the past usually picks up my OS without issues, but I know EFI works a little differently, so I don't know if I'd have to do anything to make sure it boots correctly.

Also, I've heard bad things about ASRock in the past, so I'm a little weary of them.

Can take a look at the user reviews at the Egg, it's the best selling Z77 out there and with good reason, it's a great mobo, I picked mine up at initial release as I already had a prerelease 3570K and figured I'd play with it then get a ROG mobo - built with all the ROGs and most other Asus Z77s as well as most of the Rocks and the GB mobos and haven't found one that impressed me enough to change from the EX 4, I run 32GB of 2400 DRAM, 4.7 24/7 and have had up through dual 780s in SLI and not a burp from it, just takes all in stride and keeps on, keeping on

Alright, then, I'll look around at it. I know in the past ASRock wasn't always the best board, but it seems solid and it supports EFI.

Any info on the EFI situation, or should my OSs boot fine without much extra tweaking?

Alright, there's been a change of plans due to certain issues IRL. The new CPU isn't on the horizon quite yet, but my current mobo is having issues and I should replace it. My current plan is to get a decent mobo and overclock my CPU up to something like 4.2-4.5 (I have a Hyper 212 EVO, which isn't the best cooling, but should work fine for that small of an OC). The performance won't be what I need in the short future, but it will hold off the need to upgrade right now for a few months at least.

Any good mobo recommendations for AM3+?

Same one in OP post. I can't quite upgrade my CPU yet, so I'll still have to be running with the FX-6300.

I'm looking at the GA-970A-UD3P since the 8+2 phase, features, and price seem right up my alley.

EDIT: Yup, I think that's what I'll roll with. I'll mark your answer in which you answered my OP questions as the solution since that technically answered my thread's questions. Thanks for all your help.
