Internet crashes once i plug in my ethernet cable to computer

i have a computer that i plan to run game servers with for me and my friends but everytime i plug in the ethernet cable my intnernet shuts down. the computer does not have a wireless network card in it and i have to use the ethernet port on the motherboard. ive tried reinstalling the LAN driver and that has not solved the issue.

Specs:
abit fatal1ty f-190hd motherboard
windows 7
Intel core 2 CPU
4gb of RAM installed but only 1gb being recognized

Get the motherboard serviced or replaced.

Your ethernet problem, combined with "4gb of RAM installed but only 1gb being recognized"....indicates you have some other issues going on.

Possibly a RAM or motherboard issue. Fix one at a time, starting with the RAM.

I feared that it was the motherboard and i just wanted to get others opinions on the situation. thank you for confirming my suspicion.
