Hard Drive Clicking of Death

So my laptop has been making clicking sounds for about a week on start up. I'm pretty sure it was from the hard drive. So naturally I backed up important files. Just this weekend it died on me. When I try to boot the computer, I get some clicks and a BIOS because the computer cannot detect the hard drive. I just wanted to make sure that this is a hard drive problem before I order a new hard drive. Can anybody explain/help? The laptop was a refurbished Lenovo z580.

Only two things would cause a clicking noise in a laptop. Either the hard drive is failing/failed or you have something jammed in the cooling fan.

The fact your BIOS doesn't detect the hard drive says it all.
