A couple of years ago i decided to build my first computer, It works fine but lately I've felt the need to upgrade the motherboard. My question is, can I use my Current Triple core processor (an AMD Phenom x3 8400) on a dual core motherboard (Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H).

Thank you.

Solution
There's no such thing as a dual-core motherboard.

The Phenom x3 8400 is on the list of supported CPUs, so it will work in that motherboard.

yes you can and you can push it further then that to a quad or 6 core

check revision number on board
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2758#
download latest bios

965 phenom
or x6 1045

once bios has been upgraded not get a aftermarket cooler s524 or 212 evo
