Hello!

I'm pretty new to computer hardware and I've had my pre-built PC for about 3 years now and have recently bought a 'HIS Radeon R9 270x ICEQ' however I soon found that it actually has 2x6pin slots, and my PSU only has 1x6pin sticking out (what I've been using for my old one with only needed 1).

Now I've read on a few threads and most of people posting with this problem had a 400~W PSU, but I have a 750W, does that still mean I need 2x6pin cables to power it?

Also, I've seen some PSUs that can have extra cables added on, however my power cables are all tied up and are connected inside the PSU, is there anyway I can add another 6pin cable if that'd be an easier option?

Extra info:
I tried installing it anyway and just plugged in the 1 cable. Results were my computer didn't show anything at all, so it definitely doesn't work, I'm just wondering what the specific problem is.

Hope someone can help soon, and sorry if I sounded like a tosspot. I have no idea what I've gotten myself into!

the PSU specs says it should have 2( or 4) PCIe connectors and they will both need to be connected for the GPU to work......you may need to trace out the PSU cables to find them, they may ave been stored behind the motherboard. Does both of your case sides come off?

Indeed they do both come off! And I've found a ton of other 6pin/6+2pin wires behind it!! Thank you so much!!

Damn, plugged the new graphics card in, slotted both wires into it and it's running exactly the same as it did when I tested it with 1 wire...

When I turn my computer on nothing comes up, it doesn't even boot! Any tips on what could be the problem this time?

cpould be a few things:

1. the GPU was damaged when only one power connector was installed (unlikely but possible)

2. you may not have the correct 6-pin cables plugged into the GPU......are the cables you found labeled? If not, all I can suggest is to try different combinations and see if any work (unless you have the PSU manual, in which case it should identify the cables and the ones you need to use)

Both 6pin cables have the same wired costing around it wires to keep them separate and have a PCI Express sticker on them both.
Shame it's not working, but I'll see what some computer techies say if I bring it into them. Thanks for the help, animal!
