Front Panel Audio Not Working (F.P. USB IS working)

Merry Christmas!

Thanks in advance for your help -- I've scavenged the forums for a similar topic. Alas, no solution has come up. Which has resulted into this post.

I have a pair of speakers plugged into the back of my tower and they're fully functional. I'm wanting to plug my headphones into the front audio/recording jacks, however my computer is not picking up the hardware. I'm pretty sure everything is plugged in correctly, considering the USB ports are functioning on my front panel. I'm wanting to have my speakers used for music, gaming, etc. - but also have the option of having certain audio like Skype calls while I'm gaming, come through my headphones while other audio is coming through my speakers.

Here's some information that may help you out in the process of helping me!
OS Windows 8 Pro
System Manufacturer ASUStek
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU 750 @ 2.67GHz
System type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor

You left out the 2 most important bits of info. What MB and Case do you have?

Hmm, ALL audio will goto speakers AND to headphones. Can't really direct certain audio to front or rear.... (now that's with analog audio which is supplied to 3.5mm phono jacks...)

For your issue, are you using analog or digital (USB) headphones? (brand / model?)

Analog - I realize a simple solution would be to purchase a USB headset considering the USB front panel ports are working. However, I'm trying to save $ and use what I have if there's a simpler solution.

Make sure the front panel audio cable is plugged into the MB and/or reinstall audio drivers. Can you click on the audio icon in the bottom right of the screen and change any settings?

Upon further investigation (without having to completely dissect my CPU) I found this HD audio and AC ' 97 not jacked in. I assume this is the issue, however I'm not very computer savvy and don't know how to hook them up. I already tried just plugging the HD Audio into the four prongs and had no luck. Any suggestions? Here is a picture of what I found.

Correct wires, but you do NOT connect them to that "Speaker" header for the other front panel connections on the motherboard (that's only for the beep from motherboard diagnostics I never use it....)

Its the GREEN connector in the Front corner of the "image 2" on this link:

You can purchase a case speaker and plug it into F-Panel that you have in the picture you posted. Then you will get beep codes. A single beep for normal boot, etc.
