New gaming pc keeps freezing when playing games

so just a couple of days ago i bought a gaming computer and everything runs fine but when ever i play newer games it freezes within 5 to 10 mins of gameplay and im runing the games at 50 to 60 fps fine but it always crashes at a certain point of the game and i have tryed to reinstall the game and do a recovery on windows 8 but nothing seems to work and all my drivers for everything in my computer are up to date i also have a gtx 660 card but it only freezes and crashes when im playing games this gaming pc is also pre build and not custom so if someone will help

This is an overheating problem. This can be fixed by opening the case and making sure the fan connected to whatever cpu cooler is installed is working properly.

If it keeps happening you should be able to return it to whoever sent you the computer (sucks to do and will often cost you shipping money :(  ).


Download a program called "coretemp" and monitor your temperatures while gaming (run the game in windowed mode so you can see temp while you game) If the temperature exceeds 90 degrees celcius, but your fan on the cpu cooler is spinning fine, you will likely have to re-install the cooler.

For information on how to do this, youtube will be your best friend, but you will need new thermal paste, rubbing alcohol, and possibly a screwdriver depending on your cpu cooler
