When using a network bridge, will a device connecting to the network via that bridge have its own IP address on the network? Or will it use the address of the bridging device?

My situation: I have an XBox 360 connected to my computer via network cable, and my computer connected to our Wi-Fi; I need to know what IP address to forward ports for Xbox Live to.

A computer is not a network bridge so its going to depend on how you configured stuff.

A true network bridge is completely transparent and would have gotten its IP from the router.

Look at the xbox if it has a ip in the same subnet as the route ...ie it is using the router as it gateway..then you just forward to that address and it should work. If you are using something like ICS or another software to share the connection then it will be complex to get port mapping to work correctly.

Be aware load on the computer will impact your connection to the xbox so avoid any unnecessary usage of the computer when you are playing games. Because you are in effect using a expensive computer as a simple network adapter it generally is going...

I don't plan on doing much online gaming with the 360; the bridge is mostly for downloading content. If I ever do get into gaming, I'll get a wireless adapter or more likely I'll upgrade to a slim 360 with integrated Wi-Fi.

Oh, right. I'm sharing the connection using Windows 7.
