Hey I have a 7770 in my computer right now and I'm thinking of getting another but I'm not sure if I should CF them, I literally only have 100$ check and 20$ best buy gift card so getting a higher end single card instead is out of the question for me, So I was wondering is it worth it to CF them, I have 2 monitors but I only game on 1 and the other is just a desktop. my computer specs currently are:
AMD FX 6100
8gb Corsair Vengeance Ram
500gb HDD (for windows\programs\media)
128gb OCZ SSD (for my games)
Asus M5A97 r2.0 Motherboard
850 Black widow PSU

More about : 7770s pass

I personally have had a lot of trouble with crossfire. you would probably be best just waiting until such a time as you can afford a significant upgrade (like when the next generation comes out in 2014 for amd). Say if you save that $120 now, by next year if you can save up 300 for a new card, you will be able to get a card that makes your 7770 look like a snail in the dirt

CF works fine for me. (Although I am now using a pair of Nvidia cards) But 2 x HD 7770s might be prone to micro-stutter. The new AMD beta driver has Frame Pacing however, and works really well. I tried it with a pair of HD 7870s. No stutter that I could detect at all. But lower end cards seem to be more prone to m-s than the higher end cards. You would definitely get good framerates with dual 7770s. But a faster single card would be preferable.

Another thing to consider is the number of PCIe lanes your 2 PCIe X16 slots have. If the second slot is only X4 in bandwidth... forget about it.

How do I find out how many PCIe lanes my slots have?

It will depend on your cpu; im pretty sure the cpu you have will allow you to run 2 cards in 8x (no performance difference from 16x

It will depend on the MB you have. Unfortunately the Asus M5A97 r2.0 Motherboard you list above has X16, X4 PCIe slots. http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A97_R20/#specificati...
So if that is the MB you will be using, I would avoid a 2nd card.
