They're are several people on this forums and they almost have the same specs as I do and they're beyond 4.5GHz..

I don't understand that, what am I doing wrong that's making me get blue screen when I start computer at 4.5GHz?

Is it cause I left CPU Core Voltage on Auto? I need a PRO overclocker to help me with this please..

Agree, IBs are sort of odd and it depends on your individual chip, most all will OC up to a certain level (individually) rather easily and with small vCore increases, then they seam to hit a dead area and it takes a fairly healthy increase to go to the next step, say you hit 4.4 at 1.23 vCore, to get up to 4.5 you may have to kick up to about 1.29, even 1.3, then might be able to hit 4.6 at 1.31 or 1.32, have seen this on numerous IBs, both 3770K and 3570Ks, my 3570K sort of hit a wall at 4.3 but then with about a 0.06 increase I hit 4.4 and with another 0.02 went on up to 4.7 (4.8 takes another sort of jump and then get's to warm to run 24/7 for my liking

it could just be your chip man :(

EDIT: it probably is your Vcore being set to auto. set a manual voltage like 1.20v-1.25v and try to boot up @ 4.5ghz; if it doesn't work, keep increasing your vcore step by step until you're able to boot OR until you reach 1.35v

Or do you think it's the motherboard I have..

I have no problems at 4.3, but when I get to 4.4, it's unstable.

I would love to try it out but my I cannot go into BIOS when I turn on my PC, it's toooo fast.

i can't concur more :D

going from 4.7 to 4.8 is quite the jump but the increase required from 4.8 to 4.99 was extremely small; still required right around 1.3v for the 4.99 overclock which i wasn't too comfortable with and called it a day

I would love to try it out..

But if it fails, there's no way I can get into BIOS because the boot thing is just too fast.

exactly.

quick question, do the haswell chips behave similarly to IB at all when overclocking?

you can try resetting your CMOS, they have a button (looks like a small black dot) on the back of the motherboard where you got your keyboard/mouse plugged in.

http://us.msi.com/product/mb/Z77A-GD65.html - take a look @ at the picture that's farthest to the right.

Or I can disable "fast boot" in BIOS?

In general not really that I've encountered, had a few that were close, but most tend to scale up at a more level rate

I have BIOS on my desktop as well.

I was saying if I were to fail an OC, it'd always restart and boot was too fast.

Anyways, I disabled fast boot and was able to get into BIOS.

So
@Tradesman1
@Mr1hm

How far should I go?

To the moon ;) .......... no seriously, monitor temps as you go and take it slow - don't push....and on occasion get up and walk away, otherwise have seen folks get fixated and start making mistakes, some can be really bad when you've been at it and mis type say 1.6 when you mean 1.26, things can go Poof!

Advice on where I should stop my VCore at?
Temp at idle?

Yes watch idle temp and if you stress test with Prime or whatever, watch it there also, till you find something you're happy with, then can always experiment further, know on my SB (2500K) I can run at 5.1 but very, very warm, and would need to go to LC if I wanted to run that as a standard setting, but not worth the cost to build a custom loop and I'm not big on LC anyway

Thanks, I normally build immediately when the new Intel's come out, but with Haswell had a 4770K lined up already, and new it would take me about 5 weeks before I would get it, gave me time to knock out right at 20 builds before I got the CPU and some time to really look at the mobos out there, did 2 on Hero's and fell in love with it, haven't found anything better yet
