my internet is slow and been over the usage past 3 months. then last night I found out someone using a ZTE mobile was on my network so i changed the password and have hidden the ssid broadcast. Im using wpa2 security as well. Today came back to a slow internet connection and did a speetest and was at .1 kbs so i immediately changed the pw and ssid name(was hidden). After i did that my speed went back to normal at 3mbps. So within 24hrs some found my pw and my new ssid even though it was hidden again!!! Any other ideas how to stop these wifi theives??? Any good programs to monitor ips connected to the network?? Please help.

Hiding your SSID is a waste of time and breaks more things than it fixes.

Using WPA/WPA2 with a good password...ie at least 8 characters that contain a symbol will take years to crack even with a super computer.

The part that may be compromised is WPS. You need to make sure that is turned off. This is only a 8 digit key that you cannot change and can be cracked in about 10hrs. Once it is cracked it can be used to get your secure WPA/WPA2 keys. I really wish this feature did not exist but it is enable by default for the idiots of the world who cannot even set a simple key in their PC.

You should be able to see the list of mac addresses connected to your machine.

If all else fails then you have great fun scaring the crap out...

Sadly there aren't that many consumer grade programs that allow you to do that. Just keep the password something that is very random as opposed to something like your dogs name and your age. Make it something very random and just write it down somewhere, or put it on your phone.

If all else fails then you have great fun scaring the crap out of them. You redirect any unknown user session to a internal web server that tell them you are capturing all their data. People do all kinds of things to trick people into using a invalid wireless connection and here they volunteer for a man in the middle attack. You can if you work at it and they are stupid compromise even encrypted sessions.
