I figured id ask here

The build im aiming for
FX-6300 3.5ghz
8 Gigs of ram
SSD / HDD
HD 7870 or R9 270
Cx500 power supply

I asked alot of friends, they said it should no problem at least for the 7870. However one said to be careful as it could "brown out" ... Im not entirely sure what that means

My current build is a 6570 (1gb) on a 220w XD and the card is over a year old and hasnt given me any trouble

The R9 i cant really find anything about

Edit : Also i do not overclock

More about : cx500 run 7870 270

It is not an opinion it is a fact http://anandtech.com/show/7503/the-amd-radeon-r9-270x-2... total system power consumption is less than 300 watts!

Ok but what should i shoot for, i see people saying 7870 over the base 270 on other threads

Really just depends on what Newegg gets back in stock first XD

Really if there is substantial savings I would go with the HD7870 but if same price since the 270 - 270X is a tweaked 7870 I would go for the 270-270X. The 270 only has one PCIe power connector and will hit its power limit sooner than the other if you are planning to overclock the card.

The brand i usually aim for is MSI now, as far as graphics, as thats my current card, it hasnt given any trouble and plus Afterburner is quite nice too. Im somehow able to push the card i have on a 220w lol

And i dont know if thats really overclocking just messing with Core Clock, Memory and Fan Speed is it?

That is overclocking if you are raising them (apart from the fan). MSI is a good brand so nothing wrong aiming for their cards.
