Volume mixer broken

my volume mixer was working perfectly fine then i installed the free version of audio essentials. the software then would not work so i unistalled it and restarted my pc and now where the bars of my volume mixer should be it is just blacked out,

Thank you in advance for any help as this is really annoying me

Probably best to uninstall all software associated with Sound using Uninstall Programs in Control Panel, inc. Sound Drivers. Then re-install, starting with Sound Drivers from your PC manufacturer's website.
