i have windows 7 and i wanted to copy a 5.27 GB file to my 8 GB usb drive and it copied but toke like 20 minuites the i tried copying a 1.52 GB file to my usb drive and windows says it will take like 40 minuites so i waited for 5 minuites and it was only like 15% done and it was only 1.52 GB big.
my specs are:
core 2 quad q9300
4 GB ddr3 1333 MHZ
windows 7 64 bit
ati radeon hd 6670

i also downloaded a app that makes windows 7 look and feel like wndows 8 when you start the computer up it takes about 50 seconds but after you start it up my computer works fine the only issue is the copying speed

Format the USB drive and repeat the experiment. If it's fast now, then your PC is fine and the USB drive had a corrupt file system.

If it's still slow after the formatting, buy or borrow another USB drive and repeat the experiment. If it's fast now, then throw away the old USB drive because it's defect. If it's still slow, at least you've narrowed it down a bit...
