The specs on that monitor are quite good, and if this is your preffered size of monitor, then it would be a good purchase. If you are wanting to go bigger, i would suggest looking at asus or benq if you are willing to spend a teency bit more for a more gaming oriented product ($200 would get you a good 24 inch of either brand

Honestly think the samsung you are thinking about will be great for gaming. Its LED, has HDMI, TN panel for fast response times, and 1080p. BUT, If you are not in a rush to update your monitor maybe wait for nvidia's new technology "G-Sync" which will bring gaming to a whole new level with your monitor. There are tons of forums that go into detail of what G-Sync is capable of. Monitors like Asus, Benq, Phillips, and Viewsonic will be adapting this tech in the near future. I myself will be getting one. "Expense will will come along with it though"

G-sync will very well be the 'next best thing' People have seen it in action and it's basically going to be as heavily adopted as high def and flatscreens were. That being said, it's not going to kill you to buy the monitor you want now, as g-sync monitors aren't supposed to be available until march, and even at that point they will only work with nvidia graphics cards (well the g-sync part). But even the people who have seen this new tech do not recommend going out and buying one immediately. Just like with televisions, if yours is working fine, or you find one at a good price now, go with that solution.

I agree with yuo there to not buy the first batch when it releases, but if you feel like having the monitor now and need it, then its its a good idea to get a cheap 1080p monitor now, and could even use as a secondary to your future G-Sync monitor. :)  I use the 27 "Yamakasi 1440p monitor and got it for $350 last year. and love it.

I've been looking at those cheaper 1440p monitors, Do you have any problems with input lag, stuck pixels, dirt under the screen, or the monitor feeling cheap? Basically they are rebranded panels from other companies that didnt fit quality standards. But i hear people are getting some good ones

I can only speak for Yamakasi when I say this, but the screen had zero dead pixels. Input lag is actually lower on the Yamakasi because it only has one availble input which is DVI-D and nothing else. So even $700 1440p monitors have higher input lag than the Yamakasi. The colors are incredible because it uses an IPS panel.
