Best GPU for 1280 x 720 resolution

So I'm building a new computer system (first time) and the part that I've been worrying about the most is the GPU. My monitor from my old computer goes up to 1280 x 1024, but because I want to keep the 16:9 aspect ratio, I'll probably set the resolutions on my games to 1280 x 720. So I was curious as to what would be a good GPU to run games at max settings while getting 60 FPS. I've seen a video of a 1GB Radeon 7850 getting around 70-80 FPS on Crysis 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fi4nmGYuSsA (though I'm not sure as to whether that was max settings). I was thinking of buying a Gigabyte OC or Sapphire Dual X and OC R9 270X and just calling it a day. Any thoughts on whether this'd be good or bad? Any other ideas instead? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

650ti boost is enough for 720p but if u think u will upgrade to 1080p in future then 270x will be a better choice.

Well, I'd like to upgrade to 1080p in the future, but I'd prefer if we stuck to the 720p resolution at the moment (this'll be my first build anyway). Should I still buy the R9 270X anyway or something cheaper?

By the way playing on 1280x1024 display on 1280x720p resolution would be pretty shitty. Im saying from personal experience. It would either look stretched out, or you would play on a letterbox. Both of these choices are pretty bad. :/ So I'd suggest you to stick to 1280x1024 resolution for a better picture.
