I just built my first pc and went to plug it into my Samsung tv. At first I tried HDMI. No luck. I tried another HDMI cable too and still nothing. I just went out and bought a DVI-D to HDMI cable for £23 and it still displays nothing. When I turn the computer on, all the fans on the build spin and the LED's light up. I can hear the optical disk drive starting too, but I can't hear any beeps. I think that my speaker may be broken. At the moment I have the DVI - HDMI cable plugged into the GPU and the other end into my TV. I haven't tested it on a monitor yet. I have checked everything multiple times. The GPU's LED's turn on and the fans start to spin. I have tried taking out the graphics card, using only one stick of RAM (would use 2x4gb) and all the cables are connected for all I can see. I am really stuck and I'm not sure what to do. Please help :)

I have just been to my uncle's house and borrowed his monitor. This time I used a dvi-d to dvi-d cable but still nothing happens. I have a speaker on my motherboard but a wire came loose so I put it back in and I'm not sure if the speaker actually works.

CPU: AMD FX-6300
GPU: Asus AMD R9 270X
PSU: Corsair CX500
Mobo: asus M5A78L-M

As for the first part I am not sure. I will have to try it with only the cpu and cpu fan installed later on. I don't hear any beeps when I turn on the system on with all the components installed, but I do think that my speaker is broken. I shall see if I can pick one up from Maplins or somewhere later on and try it out.

Just a few questions:

Do I take out everything but the cpu and heatsink including fans, hdd etc or are there some things I leave connected
Do I connect the build to a monitor or not and just listen out for the beeps?

I found the solution! It has something to do with the CMOS battery:

1ST. TAKE OUT THE BATTERY
2ND. WHILE IN THIS SITUATION (WITHOUT BATTERY), POWER SYSTEM ON.
3RD. SET DATE AND TIME IN BIOS
4TH. POWER OFF SYSTEM.
5TH. INSERT THE BATTERY.

END.

SYSTEM STARTS UP
HOPE IT HELPS!
