That is pretty much it. I am with Linux and probably for a month now my computer hasn't shut down or restarted properly, only with me pressing and holding the shut down button .. It just starts thinking and never actually turns off by itself. Once I left i overnight and on the morning it was all heated up and still with the ubunto ending screen..
And to top that I have a couple of the buttons not working when pressed and that has gone away in the past with a restart .......
Help.

Thank you for the quick reply!

Actually I kept reading and someone somewhere said "you probably have too much things in there" so I gave it a good clean up and it did the trick. Laptop successfully shuts down and restarts and everything when there's more free space.

5 or 6 keyboard buttons still do NOT work after various restarts, though....

Any ones in particular? when you say 5 or 6 it sounds like a keyboard issue because they tend to be grouped in the cabling that way.

No, they are not next to each other. It's the T, U, P, Q, J, 1 and 3 ( on the top of the keyboard, num pad working properly) and one button with symbols only on the left of the "enter" button .. so far. Seems random to me. I gave the surface of the keyboard a clean up from the dust and etc but nothing changed.

I'd try an external keyboard before anything else, I'd bet on that being the problem. Keys are grouped somewhat randomly. Then I'd check your keyboard preferences just in case it's not set on the one for your keyboard. click on the start button up top on your right, system settings, keyboard layout.

Don't have an external keyboard at hand as I am "luckily" abroad, will try that when I have the chance, thank you. Or most probably when I've had enough of the virtual keyboard typing I will take the laptop to a shop to get fixed.

Thank you, stillblue

I have a spare and am abroad, the DR Congo. That help any? :D
Good luck but an external keyboard can be had for $10 pretty much anywhere and would save you a whole lot of grief and aggravation, you might even save someone's life.

I will be in Morocco in two weeks, why not :D
I will definitely get one if it doesn't go away by itself (ha!) in a week, don't want to risk anybody's life, as this challenges my patience a lot!!
