I am planning on getting a new laptop and deciding between 2 specific models right now. There is this Sony Vaio with i3-3227U @ 1.9 Ghz and 1GB of NVIDIA Geforce GT 740M and and a HP pavillion with AMD A10-4655M @ 2.0 Ghz and 2GB of AMD Radeon HD 8650 M + 512MB Radeon HD 7620G Dual Graphics. I am a normal laptop user who plays some graphic intensive games from time to time. So which is a better choice for me of these two? And one more thing to consider is, Sony has 4GB RAM while HP has 8GB RAM.

dude, please do a little research..
you really miss lead here..

look at this..

despite "U in the end", this core i3 series is faster than that APU processor..

and please note, in the graphic is "HD 8650G + HD 8670M", which is much much stronger than "AMD Radeon HD 8650 M + Radeon HD 7620G"(sorry, i can't find AMD Radeon HD 8650...

What's your budget? Maybe you can get something better from Lenovo. In general, Sony Viaos are lesser VFM than Lenovo laptops.

However, the HP Pavilion will be better overall, among the two. Sony Viao with i3, and that with U in the end, is quite a weak CPU. IMO, AMD APU presents a more balanced CPU+GPU Config.

but, as you can see in the benchmark, gt740m is still faster than that APU graphics..

So, Lenovo laptops are lesser than Sony Vaios. and however, the Sony Vaio will be better overall, among(between) the two.

Leaving the benchmarks aside, just for a moment, don't you think Quad-core will be better for gaming than dual-core (and, that too underclocked)?
I'm sorry for that hasty response, without looking at the benchmarks, by the way.

cinebech is very well threaded bechmark software..it can utilize up to 128 thread simultaneously.., so any multicore processor will show their true power..

if that "underclocked" i3 dual core is faster than an A10 quad core in a threaded benchmark, well, of course it'll be faster in all application, including gaming..

I am looking at below Rs 50,000. I went to a lenovo showroom in my area. I am travelling abroad to NZ for my higher studies and want an International warranty due to that. But they said that they would give only continental warranty. That was the reason for choosing between Sony and HP.
