Dropped the laptop and cracked the screen. Purchased replacement screen and damaged the connector during replacement. My Old-Man eyes need better glasses. Took to the shop and laughed with the guy as he showed me the cost breakdown to replace the screen cable, install another new screen and pay him for his better eyes & service...ended up buying a new machine for Christmas. My Question: Now that I have this door-stop of an N5050, is there a way to bypass POST and just use an External Monitor? With the screen disconnected, I get nothing but beeps at bootup...Thanks!

If it's beeping at boot, it means more than just the screen got injured. Unless that is fixed, the laptop won't boot with another screen. I have seen many laptops where just removing the screen worked just fine with an external monitor.

Does it seem to start OK with the screen hooked up? If it does, you can use it with an external monitor, if you turn it on, then quickly close the case, it should detect the external monitor as the primary display.

Other than that, you can take it apart and sell the parts or sell the whole thing as is for parts.
