Ok, so i guess my original plan is half way workable lol. see http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1934199/blu-ray-monitor-built-speakers-set-work.html#.

anyways, once i start using the splitter, i get no video what so ever, i dont have the converter box yet and i was just seeing if everything would work so far.

so i tryed monitor and blu ray to splitter and that didnt work, i tryed splitter into blu ray and ran monitor and audio thing, still no video, and i tryed splitter into monitor and run to blu ray and audio box thing, which again is on the way.

so im sorta confused as to why i get no video using the HDMI splitter. someone help me out and tell me what i need or what i need to change around, on the cheap side please :p

Solution
how are you hooking things up?

you should get video if you have your dvd player hooked up to the side of the splitter with only 1 hdmi plug. and on the other side with 2 hdmi plugs you hook that up to your monitor. that should get you video. unless of course its a bad splitter. buying cheap sometimes means poor quality and products which do not work.

as far as getting audio out of the converter on the other side... perhaps.

my suggestion would have been something like this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Digital-HDMI-to-Analog-Stereo-Optical-Audio-Converter-Dolby-5-1-7-1-Decoder-/221156873859

the hdmi signal passes through to your monitor or tv while it pulls out and converts the hdmi audio signal to analog. it is hdcp compatible too...

if your own way doesnt work you could try that.

the link i put in my question tells you how i have it hooked up, and like i said i dont have the converter yet, i just ordered one yesterday, its also in the link i sent you to. i tryed switching things up and what not. i plugged the splitter into the blu ray, then ran one hdmi to monitor then the other to the audio box which i was just testing to see if i had video goin through. which i dont =/ i also tryed splitting from the monitor, to the BR and the audio box.check out the link i put in it and maybe it will help you understand what ive got here, and i cant afford that box you recommended lol :p. check it out and get back with me.

and it very well could be a bad splitter. because i get no video hooked up how you said.

yes i see lol, but now its working lol

i have the single end of the splitter going into the BR
and one HDMI going to DVI on my monitor, so everything is working fine now just got to wait for that box to show up and see if it gets me some audio, thanks man
