Laptop hard drive died, need a new one.

Hey guys, so woke up this morning to a clicking laptop. I was wondering if I should get a new hdd or maybe a ssd.

I just have a few questions on the process of installing the new drive. Would I just need to boot from my flash drive and just sstart the format processs normally like a regular desktop? Or should I do something else?

While SSD's are fast, its speed you pay to get.
HDD, offer space at a much more affordable price.

If price is an issue for the amount of space you need then maybe a 7200 rpm HDD would offer you a good compromise. Most laptop harddrives are 5400rpm as are most hybrids but Seagate does make a few at 7200
