Hi, I'm a bit confused right now, I can hear the sound of Windows 7 shutting down and booting up through my headset, which Windows recognizes as Speakers. My Motherboard is the Asus m5a99fx pro r2.0, and my PC has a Realtek HD Audio Manager. Despite all of this, I can't hear friends on Skype, and they can't hear me. All I can really hear is the noises Windows 7 makes. I need to know how to fix this.

Update: I just went on YouTube to find that I can barely hear videos, but the audio is heavily distorted. It's high pitched and robotic, and very quiet. I can hear certain sounds that sound almost normal though.

I checked the drivers and I did install the chipset drivers first. I learned the problem only persists with my headset, my speakers work fine. I'm getting a USB audio adapter for them because they use the audio and microphone jacks. They had static problems on my old PC, I heard this may fix it.
