I disabled Intel R3000 graphics hoping it will default to Nvidia 580 card.
But, I lost my display entirely and got a black screen.
I switched everything off, unplugged everything and hit the CLr CMOS button at back of pc - then switched on, no change.
I also hit the power smart switch and the reset smart switch inside the machine - no change.
The mother board is a Asrock z68 extreme 3 gen 3.
Don't really know what Im doing, is there anything else that I can do to get display back, without calling the repair guys?

typically when you disable something like that, it will give you 14 seconds to accept the change :/  What you can do is plug your monitor into the motherboard instead of the gpu, and it should default back to the intel graphics. If not, try unplugging the card itself. If this does not work you may have to call your repair guy. I had this problem once, and i did the same thing, and unplugging the gpu worked for me (taking it out of the computer). The best thing you can do for next time is to go into the nvidia control panel, and just simply select the 580 as the default 3d application runner thing (should be near the top of the nvidia control panel) but do not disable the intel one, as most of the time your desktop and non gaming applications will use that to save power

Have you plugged the monitor into your new GPU?

Hi,

Where did you disable it, in BIOS, in Windows ?

If in windows, try booting in safe mode.

If you still having problems, pull out the card and try to boot from onboard.

With modern motherboard, you don't need to disable anything.
Usually it boots from on board if no other card is detected.

So if the GPU is plugged in and you don't have an image. You might have a defective card, insufficient/defective PSU or you didi not plug in the extra power cable the GPU needs.

Hi guys, I'll give the above the go. I did early use the nvidia control panel and selected the 580 card against the card. But I still couldn't get more than 5-6 fps. Always have a problem with ubisoft games on pc. Anyway thanks Ill try the above and see it it works. I tried hitting f8 for safe mode, that didnt work. cheers

Okay, so plugging the monitor directly into the motherboard (which btw I discovered what those white dvi/vga type settings were at the back of the computer) that brought up safe mode. And various windows options - I had to chose the automatic repair option. Seem to have done some damage, did a chkdsk, then had to do a complete windows installation.
:(  - But the "plugging the monitor directly into the motherboard" option worked for me.
Thanks very much guys, much appreciate your help.

Hi, actually I found that my monitor was already in the mother board not the gpu, when I opened the box, and now I have super graphic speeds. I'm not sure if this is an issue. As I said I ended up doing a complete windows installation :(  Thanks again for the help. :)
