So for Christmas I got computer parts and started to build my computer, I got everything installed and working...except my NZXT Sentry 2 fan controller ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811992005 ).

My problem is that I have everything installed and plugged in but I can only control fan #3 and all other fans I can't control and don't have readings on there speed.

P.S. I have 4 out of the 5 fan connectors plugged in, the other one is just hanging there. also tell me if you need more information and on what.

Solution
If you can't cycle through the fans as you should and set the speed on 1, 2, and 4 it may be possible that you have a faulty unit. I would recommend going to the NZXT website and using their chat feature for troubleshooting. Unfortunately, I never encountered that problem and don't know how to replicate it in order to see what is going on and how to address it.

Thanks for the help but uhhh.... i kinda feel stupid but also confused. I had all the fans plugged into molex power cables but all were running @ 100% because of that (I think) so I only plugged in fan #5 (the one I'm not using) in and all the fans i can control separately just not all together.

Also if I unplugged the fan #5 molex can I control all the fans at the same time?

No need to feel stupid, that's what we're all here for - to help each other out. When you say you plugged in fan 5 molex, what did you plug it into? You should have fan 1 plugged into Molex 1, fan 2 into Molex 2, etc. Once that's done you can either set the fans to run manually or on auto, which will control them based on the preset temperature range you have for each sensor. Personally, I just set my controller to run manually and set every fan as high as they would go without making extra noise. I don't use the auto setting because I'd rather push as much air as possible through the case. I've got one fan set at 80%, 2 at 100%, and 2 at 90%, which does a good job pushing the air through without sounding like a wind tunnel.

FUDGE!

I just typed a few page answer and copied it then I forgot my password so I got a reset in the email. Then I COPIED the new password and lost the full answer. in Short:

I connected MOLEX and 3PIN connectors and had the same symptoms as YOU. I could not control any fans, but they were all spinnig, and the FAN icon on the Sentry 2 was at a standstill.

Then, since there is a MOLEX power connector going to the board, I disconnected all the MOLEX cables, leaving only 3PIN connected. VOILA! now I can control each fan separately, (I'm ONLY using 3 fans, not all 5). I can set the ALARM temp, speeds in MANUAL mode. AUTO mode controls the fans flawlessly, and keeps the temps below your set MARK.

ALL FAN mode I can only use the AUTO, manual does nothing. Maybe it's because i'm not using all 5 fans, I do not know. All i wanted was to control each fan separately, and I can do that...
