as far as I can remember when I still had 7950 I can do high settings with this game. But when I tried doing so again everything is so stuttery and FPS are crazy bad on 1080p gaming.

is it normal? or am I doing something wrong?

thanks,

my setup:

Mobo: Gigabyte 990fxa-UD3

HDD: 2x 1Tb Western Digital Caviar Black

Is SSAA enabled? At 4x your card will get in the mid 20s FPS range. Either disable it completely or turn it way down to .5 or 1.

Drivers may also be an issue in this case. With a new card you will have to download the correct new drivers for the new card

I tried 3 of the latest beta drivers and made worse to no difference.

Does this mean that a single 280x cannot handle Metro: Last Light?

It should handle it fine with SSAA off or maybe even at .5 or 1. I even get slowdowns with my Superclocked GTX 780 when it's on 4x. Is PhysX on? That would slow down an AMD card.

The 280X is just a rebadged 7970.

nah physX is disabled as well... the only time I get smooth experience is when I set everything on LOW. makes me feel like I'm just using an onboard video.

This is a legit, up to date version of the game right? If it's a cracked copy that's the problem.

If it's legit try uninstalling the current driver, using driver sweeper then reinstalling the driver. You can also try reinstalling the game.

I guess it's the game... I tried swapping my other (280x and 290) all seems to be a bit edgy.

I give up. this game would have been good now it will just be a shelf decor.

Well sorry to hear your problem hasnt been solved. The ONLY other problem i can think of is thermal throttling due to a poorly installed cooler on your card. to identify if this is the problem, download any gpu monitoring program like gpu-z or msi afterburner (there are more but those are popular) and from there, run your game in windowed mode but still max settings, and see what your gpu temps are like. If they are above 90, then something is going on and making your card much hotter than it should be
