Can you add a 2gb stick to a mobo with 2x4 gb already?

Solution
Anything, mixing two sets (packages) of the same exact model of DRAM can be problematic - that's why they offer such a big selection and say a 4 stick set cost more than a pair of 2 stick sets - people often do that (buy a pair of 2 stick sets) and like to brag about saving $3-5, then they go and install and Poof - the sticks won't play together ;) When you factor in mixing different amounts of DRAM, different freqs, different timings, voltages, etc all that just compounds the problems (also the programming oin the sticks for XMP is done by the set - a two stick set is programmed for that and a 4 for 4 which can effect the advanced timings you don't normally see, i.e. 2 sticks of 2133/9 may need a tRFC of 216 where a 4 stick set will...

When you say mixing do you mean the size, or the brand?
