Depends on what your PSU is rated for and if there is physically enough room for it in the case.
If you have the 300W PSU (the gateway website lists either a 300 or 500) then that won't be enough.
Exactly which R9 270x card are you looking at? What is the length you have available in the case at the PCIE slot (measure from the port - where the plugs for the card are) the first obstacle in a direct line along the slot, probably drive bays. Remember these cards are two slots wide so look to the side (next slot over) to make sure nothing will impede there as well.

I had the 300W before but upgraded last year for a 500W since I purchased the ati 6670 HD 1gb. Now I want to do the same but with the r9 270x saphire 4gb

My PCIE slot are good since the card look a lot like the 6670 and I seem to meet the minimum requirements of 500W.

On PCpartpicker I've matched my core i5 + current motherboard + my 500W power supply with the newest card

No compatible errors displayed.

Any other things I should look at ? :)

The card is physically LARGE and LONG. Make sure you have room in your case as I described. Other than that you should be good to go. Enjoy :D
