*Note before I start: I will use this monitor for mostly watching videos and gaming, I like IPS because I think it can offer the best of both worlds

So I'm looking for a new monitor to replace the ancient one I have now (pretty sure its +8 years old). I thought I had settled on the ASUS PA248Q, and even raised my budget up to $300 for the monitor, but I've been recently been turned off by the fact, that almost every article I've read has said it uses an e-IPS panel and has a 6-bit color depth with dithering, when I had previously thought it was an 8-bit color depth. I had been previously been looking at the ASUS MX239H, which I nearly $100 less. Am I paying an extra $100 with the PA248Q simply for the extra inch of pixels? Is there a better IPS monitor I can get for around $300?

I have the exact pa248q monitor, but i got it on sale. Honestly for the price, you would be happier with a 27 inch asus for about the same price. The reason this one is so expensive is that it is able to reproduce better colors than the cheaper one, which is better for people doing picture editing n such like that

I mean it's a great monitor, but if you want bigger, you won't be disappointed with one of the 27 inch asus monitors for around the same price

Hey Brantyn, unfortunately, I don't have room on my desk for anything bigger than 24", but thanks for the input. I might go with the PA248Q if its increase in picture quality is enough to warrant the price.
