My first build, budget (500-600)

So after reading threads for the last month, I've decided on tackling my first build. I was shooting for a $500 build (without OS) but it's up just past 600 now.

If you don't mind helping, I have some questions.

I'm going with AMD FX-6300 and Asus M5A97 R2.0 (~$200), PowerColor Devil R9-270X ($200) and RaidMax ATX809 ($50).

Mostly, choosing parts was based off of budget, but where a small increase in price included better bang for the buck, I went there.

For PSU, I'm looking at around $50. I've seen corsair cx500 and cx600 for same price. Is too much power going to hurt me? For RAM, I was looking at GSkill ripjaw x 2x4gb. Should I go with 1600 or 1833? Is there a big difference?
Will the r9 fit in this case and will I need to connect it to the psu directly?

Also, for this price ~650, should I be swapping parts out? If rather get closer to 600.

If the CX500 and CX600 are the same price get the CX600. Just because it has a higher wattage it doesn't mean it will supply more to the computer. It will only supply what the computer needs and just means it is capable of supplying more if the computer needs it. It's better to have extra watts to spare because it means the power supply unit won't have to work as hard.

The difference between the ram will not be noticeable so go with whatever is cheaper.

The processor, motherboard and graphics cards are all well chosen.

The PowerColor Devil R9-270X will fit in that case and you will have two 6 pin plugs coming from the power supply unit which will plug directly into the graphics card.

If I were you, to fit the budget, get a better processor and be sure and get an SSD for your OS/Main drive. You can always find a smoking deal on a slightly lesser video card to account for a price drop or to allow for the other items. My guess is you won't be overclocking because you are on a budget and can't afford the extra cooling solution. Knock off $50 on the video card and get the AMD FX 8320. In the future you can buy a cooling solution and OC that processor to over 4.0GHz and now you have an 8core cpu. You can easily get 650 Ti, 7790, or possibly even a GTX 660 within your budget and get other items to go with it. Maybe you feel you need the video card to be that good, but I have built 3 systems this year using that exact same Motherboard you mentioned, two with the 650 Ti, both for my kids), and the 3rd with GTX 660 which is mine. Stick with the 1600 memory if it is less because the performance boost will not be noticeable. And lastly, I would say you only need 600-650Watts total for that build so you can always save $10 there if need be and try and go with a better brand PSU or it could die and just have to replace it sooner then later. Just my 2 cents.

I get the idea of swapping the 6300 for the 8350, and then dropping r9 for gtx, but right now, it seems that would make the overall price go up 50-75 dollars. Or am I looking in the wrong place? Wouldn't I be able to OC the 6300 in the near future?

no crossfire, 760 is powerful...
only 2 memory slots and only 8gb support. usb 3 sata6... and above all cheap.
it is very reliable as well.

The AMD FX6300 can be changed very easily to the speed of an AMD FX6350. It has an unlocked multiplier. For an example i have an AMD FX8320 and have changed my multiplier in the bios so it runs at the same speed as an AMD FX8350. I canged it from a 3.5Ghz CPU to a 4Ghz CPU.
It is pointless spending more on a FX6350.
As for the Nvidia GTX760 it is a nice graphics card but i am not sure it is worth the extra money. It will depend on the game so i have posted a couple of benchmarks.
