My bios keeps being weird

So I've been having trouble getting windows updates to configure so I've spent a lot of time in BIOS lately messing with boot sequences. I kept noticing the my printer connected via USB kept getting put as boot device number 1, no matter how I arranged the sequence and saving it, even disabling boot from other device. The next time I'd go back in the printer would be back at 1 and boot for other devices would be enabled again. Trust me, I saved setting every time before exiting, any reason the BIOS would be doing this?

It is possible an update will help as it is broken atm. I would definately go with a BIOS update if you have tried everything else and it failed.

Have you reset the cmos and defaulted your motherboard that way? Then try setting it up again. Sometimes computers do strange things that are unexplainable. In this case I would just fix it and move on hoping it does not happen again.

Some systems are slightly different, check your MOBO manual. It will have a subject dedicated to resetting the cmos. Many of the newer MOBO's just have you move the jumper I believe, and in the past it was a combo of moving the jumper and the battery and placing em back in a set order.
