Is it worth spending the extra for the FX 6300 , will I see much of a performance boost. I will be playing games like Dayz Standalone , Battlefield 4. Im building a budget pc and looking for the best performance for the money i have.

Always an FX for me, if you would be willing to upgrade to the new 6350 for around £20 more it would give you much better performance. The new vishera cores are excellent for their price.

I will use an FX-6300 or 8150/8350 to make it more easily up-gradable, however, that being said, most PC components will not function optimally after 3-6 years. You can take the i7-4970x for example, today its the fastest chip, but in 5 years time, an i5-like processor will most likely beat it in performance for x5 less money. For GPU's eg. R9-280x-290x or GTX 760-780Ti, I will go for the FX processor.

Agreed with what you said, but avoid the bulldozer x1xx and x2xx chips :)

if your trying to be budget with that gtx260 the 750/760k is a very decent processor but the 6300 will give you the same bang for buck for just a little bit more money. i would try to stretch your budget to get the 6300. that said even with the most recent heavy games your not going to notice much of a difference gaming between the two, maybe a few fps at most.

i'll say the athlon, because it's cheap and the performance will be the same with that GTX 260. you can upgrade later to a GTX 760 or R9 270X (thats the maximum the athlon can handle...) and the correct name is AMD Athlon X4 750k and it requires FM2 socket, not AM3+.
