(Not sure what category to put this in, G&D seemed most relevant)

My build:
Intel Core i5 4670k Quad-Core 3.4 GHz - 3.8 GHz boost
XFX Radeon HD 7970 Double Dissipation Ghost Edition
Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4) RAM
Gigabyte GA-H87-HD3 Mobo
1TB Seagate HDD
W764

I have a 500W PSU but haven't put the graphics card in yet because I'm worried that 500w isn't enough for my setup because I had problems with a GTX 670 with the same PSU (Some of my old Q's cover that)

I'm guessing 650 would be a good idea, but I want someone with experience to clarify. Thanks <3

650W would be a good and safe amount for your rig. With a high quality PSU, you could probably get away with a 550W unit.

500W from a good manufacturer would be fine, anything more is extra insurance. 650W would be good, but I wouldn't bother going beyond that unless it's a smokin' hot deal or you get special features like extra modular cables or whatnot.

also - why the K processor if you're not using a Z chipset motherboard? was it at a great price?

from experience a 500watt will be enough for the 670, but only if it is a good quality one... it is very possible for a 500 watt to fail under load in your system. Typically corsair makes fairly good power supplies. I personally don't have experience with any other ones, but i do see that many people are getting burnt on having a poor quality power supply that is 'just' at the recommended power rating

Oops didn't realise I put the K. It's actually a 4670 :S
Thanks though :)  Going for a 600W

got a brand / manufacturer picked out? make it a good one - cuz swapping out a power supply is a pain in the butt with all the wires everywhere. try to score a good modular unit. I've used Antec in the past and been happy, and using two Corsairs now and happy too.
