How do I set up my router?

I bought a new buffalo air station ac1200 for my gaming PC; so do I just connect it to my PC using an Ethernet cable or do I need to do something else? Sorry I know little to nothing about networking.
Question 2

My house had another router and modem for wifi connection but the signal in the other side of the house was weak so I'm buying a new router, do I also need a new modem even if the new router is only for my PC? Sorry if that question didn't make sense...

You probably didn't need to buy that new router.

Symptoms:
Weak WiFi signal from the other end of the house

Fix:
Not another router. IF you put that new router next to your PC, it will see exactly the same weak signal as the PC does now.
And another 'modem' is not the answer either. One residential account, one modem.

What you really need is a repeater device, midway between you and the original WiFi source.
