Hi i own this computer http://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-pavilion-desktop-8gb-memory-2tb-hard-drive/1682356.p?id=1219060353967&skuId=1682356#tab=specifications

and i was wondering if i'd be able to upgrade the graphics card and have a fully capable gaming computer. I don't play Call of Duty or Crysis on these machine. mostly like LoL, Outlast, Day Z, and other games that aren't as graphic intensive as Assassin's Creed or Crysis. (most graphic intensive is probably outlast.) is AMD reliable? will it last?

I want to be able to upgrade this computer to make it better for gaming instead of returning and buying a new computer….

any help would be greatly appreciated…
altho if i have to return and buy a gaming computer i will. i just don't know where to start looking…
my price range is up to 900 dollars…

please help me upgrade my current or find a new computer

is the Gefore 760 good? i read reviews online and i wasn't sure if that was good or not. i read some mixed ones from PCMag

so this computer you've built would be able to run many games at max settings or?

also, Does it matter if it's Windows 7 or 8?

I kind of like Windows 8 but don't know if that would affect performance

You could go with an AMD FX 8320 as an alternative

A little over $900 but managed to add an SSD and a great GTX 770 from MSI

You won't lose much performance with a single stick of DDR3-1600 RAM so you could have maximum upgrade capacity in the future

The EVGA 500 and 600 B PSUs get the job done, but they are definitely not of the greatest quality (much better than those generic no brand units however :lol:)

Woops forgot about Windows .-. (just forget the SSD and add it in later I guess), these builds won't have any problems with running most games at max settings except for Crysis 3

Yeah you could get rid of the SSD for now and factor in the cost of Windows :lol:

Windows 7 and 8 trade blows depending on games, FC3 runs much better on W8 for example. Most of us don't like W8 because the metro layout is forced upon us, but W8 does apparently have better CPU utilization and a great task manager

both builds look great. what's the difference b/t Intel and AMD tho? which is better? or does it not really make a difference at that level

The FX-8320 has 8 physical cores and while it's a little weaker than the 4670k, its price atm can't be argued with

It has decent enough single threaded/core performance to run CPU bound games well and it excels in recent games like BF4

It's also overclockable just like the 4670k so it's a great value option

The main concern for gaming would be the GPU so the 770/280x would be worth getting at this moment with that money saved

Also the FX-8320 uses more power, but it depends where you want to go, me personally would go with Intel over AMD even though I like AMD as a company more.

so that AMD is more powerful than the Intel i5 that the other user posted? or?

I'm just looking for my games to run smoothly at High Graphics. and i want to make sure i get bang for my buck!

The 8320 is a little weaker in gaming, but is more bang for your buck, you'd want to hurry though, the low price of the 8320 is only during these few days AFAIK

You'll see much better results with a 8320+ GTX 770 than any great CPU with a GTX 760 purely because the 770 performs better than the 760, and that's what usually matters with games

With that money saved and spent towards a 770 you'd see this difference

so then if i wanted to get the i5 could i just switch out the graphics card for the one you suggested instead of the 760? the 770 has better performance and i'm sure w/ the i5 it would be great. and then obviously i need the 600w power supply instead of the 500w.

but everything else would be ok w/ i5 & 770?
