Hello, my problem started a few days ago I booted up my computer and it kept blue screening. It turns out that It was a registry error that caused the blue screens. So I put in the operating system disk, to fix the problem. Something happened while the process was going on. It blue screened, so I tried to restart the process but it stays on the Windows Boot Manager Screen it says that the application is missing or corrupted. F.Y.I. My computer is a gateway GT5656 with the windows vista operating system any suggestions will help.

I have a GT5656 and suffered similar issues. Motherboard is an ECS MCP61P-AM and has reports of capacitor issues. Google out an image of fat capacitors.
Issue solved by replacing the motherboard.
My version went like this:
Had prolonged start up sequence with the system occassionally turning off after the Gateway screen flash and boot menu. Gateway tech advised to reinstall Windows Vista. (still same problem) and then later use system recovery disk to repair/reset.(still same problem) This period lasted about 1 week and then machine turned off after the Gateway boot menu.(no longer enters windows)
