BUDGET RANGE: $200-300$ Before Or After Rebates

USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Playing games like Civ V, Starcraft, Sim City, Wow, The Witcher 2, Battlefield 4 ect. Running FL studio and Qubase. Running video on one display and games on another. Home theater/watching movies.

CURRENT GPU AND POWER SUPPLY:
Intel Integrated graphics 2000 and XPower 1080w psu

OTHER RELEVANT SYSTEM SPECS: CPU-Intel i5 2500 3.3Ghz 3.7 (turbo)
MoBo- Asus P8 Z68-V Pro
RAM -G Skill Ripjaws F3-1700CL9D-8GBXM 4x4Gb modules @2133Mhz
Case- Rosewill Challenger USB 3.0 version
PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: I'm from youngstown area of Ohio, United States and exclusively use newegg but all the decent gpus for pcie 2.0 are out of stock and discontinued. So I have been looking to secondary sources the more reputable the better.

PARTS PREFERENCES: I would preffer to use nvdia physx and possibly sli even if it cost me more money.

OVERCLOCKING: Haven't overclocked yet waiting to get a gpu and then probably will end up dabbling. Possibly sli if it's worth it. If it has performance advantages then it's a possibility. If not then no, it seems like it would obstruct airflow. Would I be better off just buying one good card?
CROSSFIRE: No

MONITOR RESOLUTION: I have a 32' lcd tv i use but its 720p. I also use a 51' plamsa screen in 720p and a 22' in 1080p. Whatever is Optimal.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I want whatever will preform well. With a high bit memory interface and sufficient vram, definitly GDDR5. Something with two fans and cooling tubes would be awesome. I need some form of hdmi and dvi or vga outputs also.
I loved this card but it's hard to find for a reasonable price.

I don't know what other site to trust and it seems a bit pricey for 2 year old technology. It seems like you can buy pcie 3.0 card that blows the spec of a pcie2.0 card of out with water for a lower price! Newegg doesn't have anything worth while only one card and it seems like a heat box death trap, th only three other are out of stock. Someone help!

in that price range either go with the 760 or try to grab a 280x. the 280x is a much better card with 1 extra GB of vram and a wider bandwidth, but starts at $320 now, but prices might drop soon.

Your not going to see much of a hit at all with 2.0 x16 on a GPU in your price range. With the recent price hike of the 280x I would pick up a GTX 770 for a few extra dollars, it only hurts once.

They wont have any problem running in pcie 2.0x16 even though they are marketed as pcie 3.0x16?

they are backwards compatible. The difference between the 2 is that 3.0 has a lot more bandwidth than 2.0, but graphics cards aren't even close to saturating a 2.0 slot, especially at your price range, so 3.0 is a bit ahead of its time for the consumer market. I'm running a 280x on a 2.0 slot no problems. You can find the 280x cheaper than a 770 right now, but the 280x should keep lowering in cost to about the $300 mark which is where it started at launch. The 770 isn't a bad card though, still more expensive than a 280x.

As woltej1 said, they are backward comparable, the protocol is the same on all PCIe controlers, the handshake works out what the card is. Most all new Mb run x8 / x8 in SLI configurations, 2.0 x16 and 3.0 x8 are the exact bandwidth, all cards will run on what is given them, even PCIe 1.1

There is not a great deal of difference performance wise between the 770 and 280x, both are reworked GPUs, 680 and 7970 GE respectively. The 280x is slightly faster but takes a bit more power, perhaps get whichever one you can get the best deal on.
