Black screen flashing cursor SSD Win7 install.

System specs:
AMD 8350
8(4gbx2)gb crucial ballistix
970 Extreme3 R2.0 Asrock mobo
120gb Samsung 840 evo SSD
evga 8800gt

I just bought the 8350, mobo, and ssd. Trying to install a fresh copy of Win7, already went to UEFI setup->Advanced->Storage Config->SATA Mode AHCI Mode.

The problem is, when installing, after the "completing installation" section and a restart, it shows the windows logo, then goes to a black screen with a blinking underscore. I have tried a different install disk with the same luck. Anyone have any ideas?

  1. I suggest you run Memtest to ensure your ram is functioning properly.
  2. Why? Also, just got Windows 8, downloaded to USB. Similar issue, after first reboot it doesn't progress

Why not, better be safe than sorry. If ram is failing it will cause other symptoms as well.

You can try memtest x86 to see if you can boot or you can try booting ubuntu (linux) off a flash drive or installing linux and seeing if it boots correctly with ubuntu installed.

Dont worry if you dont know what ubuntu is! its not that complicated.
