Hello,

I recently bought some new components for an upgrade and after I put it all together I can not seem to get to Windows 7. I can get into the Bios for the mother board and select the boot device as the HD with the OS on it, but when I try to start windows normally it will not.

I get a "windows could not start" error or some such thing, and then it attempts to fix itself, but it never can. I called ASUS and talked to them and they said it had to do with throwing that new MB in there with the existing hard drives, or swapping it out without a fresh OS install. They suggested reinstalling the operating system. The last time I got a new MB I was able to just plug it in and go, this time, windows will not even start.

Here is what I have, for the new system.

ASUS Sabertooth 990 FX R 2.0
AMD FX 8320
G-skill ripjaws 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory
SATAWestern digital Hard drive 1 TB (storage)
SATA Seagate hard drive 320 (operating system)

TO me it seems to have something to do with the hard drives. In the Bios I see the AMD processor and the 16 gigs of ram listed, so it apears those are working, I just can not get to my desktop! Any help would appreciated, thanks!

I actually went to try that but I could not even get that to work. First of all, the version of Windows 7 that I had was an upgrade for windows xp. I am not sure if I could of used that to do a total new install anyway.

Second, when I did try it and I got to the second screen where it asks which hard drive I wanted to use I got an error that said neither hard drive could be used. Forgive me but I forgot the exact language it used. Something about the version or way it was formatted or something, could not install it on either hard drive.
