Today, I updated my old PSU and GPU (A 500W Rosewill and a Radeon 7770) to new ones (A 750W Corsair and a GTX 770 4GB).

Upon startup, my computer crashed. I remembered having this problem before when I originally put together the computer, and I solved the problem by updating the BIOS. I tried it this time, Q flashing to the latest BIOS applicable to my mobo, but to no avail--my computer still crashes a couple minutes after using it.

It gets to the Windows 8 startup screen with the logo, allows me to login, and can idle at the start menu. However, as soon as I try to take any actions, it crashes.

Solution

Some newer PSUs only turn on their fans at certain load points, this could be noral for your PSU.

Since your system is still crashing, I don't think it's a GPU issue (unless there are driver conflicts, both amd and nvidia drivers installed and trying to run at the same time)

Other than that, I am at a loss at the moment.

Accidentally selected your response as a solution. I just tried plugging in the 7770, but after a couple of minutes of laggy use, it crashed. I noticed that my psu fan isn't spinning. Should this be the case?
