huge? no, not by my definition of huge. 7 seconds tops. Mostly depends on the model and technology you are comparing.

The main issue with many 5400rpm drives is they are usually power saving models, like the WD green series, and tend to spindown regardless of the windows HDD settings and will take extra time to spin back up and then access the files needed.
