I just found and bought an AMD R9 270x card. I installed it and connected the 2 power connectors to it. But then when I went to turn my PC on I have a black screen!

I connected it via HDMI to the motherboard then to the GPU HDMI. Nothing. My TV shows a signal from the mobo HDMI cable but non for the GPU HDMI. What did I do wrong?! Everything is spinning(CPU, GPU and case fans).

Please help me! Am first time builder.

Do you hear motherboard beeps? indicating that there might be some sort of graphical error.
make sure your psu has enough power to power up your gpu.

I do hear a beep but it happens the second I power it on. This beep always happens whenever I turn it on. Didn't have problems with display or anything. Have had this PC for 2 days with no issues until now.

Okay so to fill in the gaps...

I built my PC without a GPU at first. Just this set up:

I5 4670k
MSI Z87-G43 mobo
Thermaltake 600W
8GB Corsair Vengeance
2 TB WD HDD
Disk/DVD Drive

I just got the card today(couldn't find it when I bought 90% of the components). So I installed it, from PSU I connected 2 6-pin power connectors. 1 was a 6+2 pin connector. I seated it properly too. Took my time and everything.

My expanded question is: Was I supposed to do any prep work before installing? Like install the GPU drivers first? Do I need to connect with VGA instead of HDMI???

Need help ASAP!

GPU driver is after the physical hardware is installed and computer turned on . If the beep is just one beep, then it's fine. Unless it is a long beep or sequences of beeps then we got a problem.
