Hello all, I'm new to posting in these forums, so here's hoping that I get great help like I've seen elsewhere on this site..

I have just built my first (very) budget gaming PC ever, and it is working awesomely. However, I do have a problem regarding an older Hard drive. This will be the second Hard Disk Drive in the system, the other Hard Drive holding the OS (Win 7) and most of my files.

The new (or older) Hard Drive is from an older laptop that I had during high school. I really don't need or want any information on it from then, so I was wondering how I could wipe it completely. I would like to start over fresh and possibly use this as a platform from which to boot Windows 8 off of. As I understand it, haveing two OSes on the same disk can lead to trouble, so I was wondering if I could do this instead.

Here are my PC's specs if they really matter...

Solution
Install the drive in your pc, boot the windows 8 install disk and when it asks you to choose where to install to click the Drive Options (Advanced) link, delete all the partitions on the laptop drive (be very careful you select the proper drive), select the laptop drive so that its highlighted and click NEXT
Buy a 2.5-inch inch hard drive enclosure and put your old laptop hard drive into it.
Plug enclosure into a USB port on your PC.
Go into Disk Management and format the external drive, that will wipe all data from it (though not securely).

But that will not be bootable for Win 8. Is there any reason not to install it into the case?
