I just fixed up my computer from bad mobo and upgraded to Win7 PRO. When I tried to upgrade from WinXP 32 to WIN 7 64 bit Windows refused to install it, so I installed the 32 bit version. Am I wrong that the i3 530 CPU is 64 bits?
Not sure because I never upgrade, i always choose clean install. But I don't think you can upgrade from a 32-bit to a 64-bit. If you want a 64-bit system you must backup your files and install windows from the beginning.

OK well I couldn't do that since I had to install with an upgrade only Win7 pro. Oh well not important.
You can't 'upgrade' 32bit windows to 64bit windows. You can install 64bit windows as a fresh install from the disk and that will work no problem, it is not your hardware that is the problem.
