Laptop can't find wireless internet adapter

I'm trying to fix an old laptop (HP dv6000) which suddenly couldn't find the wireless internet adapter. I've installed the driver from the website to no avail and then restored the system to a point before the problem occurred, also without effect. I suspect the probably very old device might simply have given up, but are there any other steps I can take? It's running Windows 7 (64 bit).

  1. Try inserting the LAN cable and then trying. Also, you may have to go to the browser and type in the IP then manually set up the router. I have encountered this problem many times :P
