So we see everyone quickly 'ditch' the discussion when an AMD APU gets mentioned for gaming, but what exactly will it deliver if you combine it with an HD 7770 card or an R9 260x and 8 gigabytes of RAM? How will it not run well for a nice low budget gaming PC plus combining it for regular use.

How would this combination perform with:
iRacing
Skyrim
Planetside 2

And games of the same caliber that don't really require mid to high end components. Let's say if you use this rig for sim racing. It should deliver?

If you add an HD 7770 then you can probably play those games at low settings. The games you mentioned can be pretty demanding on hardware. It makes me wonder why you want to use an APU? If your going to add a graphics card then you are wasting part of the APU.
If you were interested in Hybrid Crossfire, you should know that the HD 7770 isn't a Hybrid Crossfire compatible GPU.
Another option is to go with a CPU that uses the same core as AMDs newer APUs but without the graphics core. It fits into the same motherboards as an APU but is more for gaming with a discrete graphics card.

Adding a graphics card defeats the purpose of having an APU. I am curious what you are trying to achieve?

Well if you combine an A10-6790k for example with an R9 260x you get 35-40 fps on 1080p in Battlefield 4 (High settings). That's not that bad at all. So I thought that if I combined a cheaper A8-5600k with an R9 260x, will I not be able to enjoy iRacing with good graphics? I can get an A8 for 75 euros and an R9 260x for 120. The complete build with a Fractal 1000 case will cost around 400 euros.
