So my friend is having troubles with money but he would like a somewhat decent gaming rig for around $400. He's mainly going to be using this for browsing but he would also like to use it for gaming, so it would be nice if he could run BF3 on medium and maybe even to high.

Here is what I have already

If you could make this cheaper without sacrificing much performance that would be great.

There is not much I can suggest but there are some very cheap new HDD's on sites such as Ebay. It may be worth having a look to save a few bucks.

The other thing I can suggest would be if you get an AMD A10 APU instead of getting a dedicated GPU. It will work out a lot cheaper without sacrificing much performance. Also don't forget on operating system and you could also do with a cheap DVD drive for installing your OS as well.

This is what I recommend:

You may want to throw in a cheap after market heat sink as the temperatures of the APU will no doubt get very high after some long hours of gaming. Comes in at around $300.
